I am in the market for a high output alternator and am checking into several options. One company I came across is Excessive Amperage.

They offered to custom build a 200 amp alt for $335 shipped.

I was just looking for input from people who have experience with alternators from excessive amperage. Are they decent alternators?

Uhh - the website looks like it makes all the right claims.

Ask what the alt's voltage will be at idle - I'd want some sort of in-writting guarantee that it will make ~13.8v @ ur idle RPM. . .

I have already sent an email asking that very question. I'll post back when they reply...

They said I will see 14+ volts and 110+ amps at idle so i went ahead and ordered. Over the past few days I have done quite a bit of research on EA and it seems they are pretty reputable.

Of course there were a few cases of problems, but that's bound to happen with everyone who makes H.O. alts. I also found some people having issues with Ohio gen. alts as well and from what I understand they're supposed to be one the of best sources for H.O alts. The general consensus, by far though, was the EA has great customer service and high quality alts.

Once I get it installed, I'll post back about it's idle voltage and performance.
