Subject: ported or sealed? mtx terminators

I just picked up a pair of MTX Terminator 10" RS4410-44. I know a sealed box is .75 cf and a ported box is 1.45. I can't find what Hz to tune a ported box to though

Just wondering what will work better for them, sealed or ported.

Can you figure what Hz to tune a ported box to from the specs ?

I'm looking to build a ported box for a pair of 10" MTX Terminators RS4410-44

  • 10" Single 4 Ohms RS44 Terminator Series Subwoofer
  • Power Handling:   Peak: 300 watts, RMS: 150 watts
  • Impedance: Single 4 Ohms
  • Polypropylene cone woofer
  • Foam surround
  • Single cone construction
  • 1-1/2" Voice coil
  • Sensitivity: 85 dB

port tuning is dependent on application and install.

THere is no rule...you can tune to whatever frequency you want.

DOwnload WinISD and model out different tuning frequencies and see what you like the best

A sealed box would be an ideal enclosure for those subs.

how did you come up with this as the OP has not stated anything about the install or the music variety he/she listens to

Well, it's not an opinion. MTX sells those subs in a loaded enclosure. The box is sealed. Lower end MTX subs are usually designed to be used with a sealed enclosure. Not saying that you couldn't use a ported box, but those subs have better response in a sealed enclosure.

saying that they are sealed box subs just because MTX sells them in a pre loaded sealed enclosure does NOT mean they are sealed box subs.

Nor does saying their lower end subs are sealed box subs. This is false.

If you have the T/S parameters than that would greatly help with enclosure options
