I have a 3.5mm jack that I'm wiring up to my DEH-P8600MP hu via an ip-bus cable. The jack has three terminals on the rear. The ip-bus cable uses four wires.

Can someone confirm that the left and right channel negatives (ground) will be wired together sharing the same terminal, and left and right positives are kept separate each getting its own terminal.

Any help is appreciated

You are correct in your assumptions.  Both the left and right grounds are to connect to the contact furthest from the tip of the male cable end.  The midway connection is the right channel.  The tip of the male plug is the left channel.
