Hey guys, I am going to be installing an aftermarket CD player in a 98 Ford Escort.  I emailed scosche about a kit and they told me I needed this one.  https://www.scosche.com/products/productID/46

For $80 (which is what I paid for the stereo itself Alpine CDE 100 at best buy) I thought maybe I can go to a junkyard and for $5 get a spare panel and cut it myself. I know my local junkyard always sells a small part like that for $5.   Has anyone done this in one of these cars?

Scosche is the best one and that is about the right price.

You probably could cut a factory unit, but IMO it would be too big of a hole/look like poo. For less work you can just buy the kit and make the installation easier.

Thanks. Isn't that pretty much what scosche is doing is cutting a hole in a replacement panel?  Have you or, anyone here ever cut their own? I do own a Dremel tool.

Eh.. I think They Make new ones from a mold.
But For real... I would go For it. Chop it up and fill in any mistakes with body filler.

i say go for it too.  It sounds like you have everything you need, you know, the Dremel tool.
