how do subs become out of phase,  is it a reverse polarity issue?

just wondering because this was brought up in one of my posts?

if one sub is wired correctly and the other sub is the opposite then they will be out of phase.

Yes, it is a polarity issue. Basically, when a speaker is “out of phase” it mean the wire connecting to the speaker terminal is connected in reverse.   The negative signal is connected to the positive terminal of the speaker and the positive signal is connected to the negative terminal of your speaker. To fix this out of phase problem, just reverse the leads on the terminal.
