Connect the radio's yellow wire to the car's constant wire before the harness.

The red wire is the one that tells the radio when it can and can not turn on.  I am not sure about your particular harness, but several of the harnesses for the newer GM vehicles can not handle the current draw of the aftermarket radio.  When they have a problem, they have the same symptoms that you are describing.  The amplifier section of your new radio gets its power from the constant feed.  If the voltage is dropping, it could definitely cause unwanted noise problems.

No, if you connected bolth the red and yellow wires to constant then it would stay on, the yellow wire is suppose to be connected to constant power so your stereo retains all the settings, your just getting the constant power before the harness.

There should be no switched power in the factory radio harness, the factory stereo functions with (Class 2 Serial Data)
