Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and of course I have some questions for the experts......I am doing a install in a classic mini cooper van. I have been out of the game for awhile but I have always like kicker components.  I'm installing a set of kicker ss56.2 in the front and looking for some good low profile subs. I also have a set of 6.5" mids from a kicker ss65.2 component set but no crossover. What would be a good crossover to use with those. I currently have a kicker 900.4 amp for the power and I'm looking for a good head unit.

Sounds like you like Kicker as much as I do, look at there CVT shallow subwoofers, there are made in 61/2,8,10,and 12", as far as the amp a good choice but you may want to consider the Kickers ZX 5ch amp I think it was dropped from their line but you can get one easy, going with a 5 ch will allow you to put the first set of speakers on ch1/2 and your mids without crossovers on ch3/4 with your subs on their own ch, these amps provide very flexible crossover settings for all chs, as far as a headunit w features, Pioneer and Kenwood, but its all about what you need, ipod/iphone capable, bluetooth, usb, etc, hope this helps.

I think I'm going to have to run a separate amp for the sub unless I can figure out how to run the mids with the front channels. My four channel amp is an SX and it matches the color theme of the interior. Yeah, I know the color shouldn't be part of the discussion but everything has to match for me. If there is no way to run mids on the same channel as the fronts then I will hide an amp for the sub or find another sx.

add another sx sub and your sx you have now should be fine with your mids, if you more features look at the kicker KQ9 eq w crossover.

Is it possible to run the mids in parallel after the crossover to keep them on the same channel? Both the mids are 4 ohms and bridge the rear channels for the sub. Or run both mids in parallel and a cross over for each.

Those amps can run at 2ohm stereo on each ch, the sx may even run at 2ohm bridged mono, usually amps only run safe at 4ohm bridged, but i know the bigger zx amps run lower, you should be fine.
