93' Ford Explorer XLT 4 door automatic

I had an AIWA stereo in the Explorer. It's getting old, CD skips. Bought a SONY CDX-GT55UIW. I was told that since I had a 3rd party unit already installed rather than the Ford factory, I could use the existing wire harness and would not have to buy another one.

New Sony radio works fine. CD works but no audio, you can see the track's and time count. A call to Sony said something about the antenna power wire but it went over my head. They directed me to the following web site:
SONY eSupport
Anyway, there is no power antenna on the Explorer.

Following is my wiring harness diagram that worked fine with the AIWA. Can someone tell me what I need to change to get the CD to play in addition to the radio on the Sony?

You used the radio's blue wire, disconnect and insulate it, and connect the radio's Blue/White wire to the same vehicle wire you just took the blue off of.

Say that one more time, real slow please. I'm pretty dense.
Thanks.

On your radio, is there a wire that is blue in color?

Yes, it goes to a fuse, then splits to a blue wire labeled POWER AMP + and blue with white stripe labeled AMP TURN ON

Does your radio have a wire that is Blue/White?

Not on the radio plug but on the wire harness plug there is a BLACK/ White (shown as blue/white on my drawing) and a solid blue, butt connected together to the fuse holder, then goes to a blue wire on the disc player plug.

On the RADIO, there is a Blue/White wire, find it.   Or is there an empty slot next to the Blue wire?

No Blue/White wire on the RADIO plug. Yes, "empty slot" next to the Blue wire on the RADIO plug.

If the missing slot is between the blue wire and the grey wire, this means that you do not have an amplifier turn on wire on your radio harness.  Your only option is going to be to connect the fuse thing that ys off into 2 wires to the red wire of the radio.  This will power up the factory amp anytime the ignition switch is in the on or the acc position.    Or you could attempt to move the blue wire into the missing slot.

i am an idiot, you wanted to know:
Plugged the AIWA back in as a test. Works fine, except for the original problem, CD skips some on MP3 burned CD's.

Your radio harness is missing a wire.  There is supposed to be a Blue/White between the white and the grey wires.  There is an option that will work for you.  Go read my previous posts.
