I have a 2000 Montero Sport, I'm installing a new JVC KW AXV-700 Head Unit in. Whenever I pulled the stock unit I found 2 D.I.N. connectors. According to the FSM they feed the amp. Amp location is behind panel in rear at cargo area. That's all the info I can find in the FSM. I have searched the fourm and don't see my answer. Can anyone tell me which wires feed what in the D.I.N. I would like the keep all the factory wiring intact. Can I buy an adapter to feed the D.I.N. connectors with my new unit? I want to use the factory amp. Thanks

Update, I have found that the D.I.N. connector with the 6 pins feeds the amp. The other one is for a factory AUX. unit of some sort. So I need the wiring schematic for the 6 pin D.I.N. Thanks for any help.

Metra 70-7003 harness includes the din connector. I am sure that both that and the power plug are less than 30 dollars.

Just in case I can't find the harness locally. Does anyone know which pin feeds which speaker lead and which is the amp remote? I have the car apart and don't want to leave it that way waiting on one by mail. I might be able to obtain a D.I.N. connector and build myself a harness if I had a schematic. Can't find it in the FSM anywhere. Thanks

you cant just cut the plug and tap speaker wires onto it. well, you can but i wouldn't recommend it. you cant put speaker wires to it you need to solder RCAs onto the ends of the wires from the din cable and plug those into the RCA outputs of the new radio. the wire harness that you would buy for your car comes with RCA jacks already on it ready to be plugged into your new radio, its so much easier and its worth waiting for if they have to special order it. if that fails try to order it online, and if that fails i would bypass the factory amp completely by running wires to the speakers directly.
the model number they gave you somewhere above is a wire harness made by Metra but other companies make one too

If you find a din plug that will connect to the factory din cable, and if you have access to an ohm meter, this will be a piece of cake.
Plug the new plug into the cable, using the meter, set to the Diode test function, Ground one meter lead and touch the other meter lead to the connections of the new plug. Notice the readings on the meter when testing each connection. There will be 4 connections that act the same exact way on the meter. These 4 are the signal connections, one each for Front Left, Front Right, Rear Left, and Rear Right. One of the connections will read below .200 on the meter. This is the shield connection or the RCA ground connection. The 6th connection will read really high, this is the amp turn on connection.
You do not connect speaker wires to this. You have to purchase an RCA patch cord and cut it in half and make it look like the picture of the harness I mentioned earlier. All 4 of the shield conductors are to be soldered to the shield connection of the plug. Solder the 4 center conductors to the 4 we identified as the signal wires. You will have to plug them into your new radio one at a time to determine which is which channel

Thanks for all the tips. I was able to find a harness locally. I will wire the new harness in, make sure all is connected correctly. Then I will post the pin outs and what they feed for future reference. Thanks for all the help.

Here are the pinouts ....after you unplug the D.I.N. cable connector from the radio. Holding the connector and looking into the front at the pins with the lead down toward the ground. Starting with the pin next to the notch. pin 1-Left Rear+, pin 2-Right Front+, pin 3-Left Front+, pin 4-Common Ground, pin 5- Amp Remote and pin 6 in center - Right Rear+. Hope that helps someone in the future.
