hellow,

i just bought a touchscreen deck for my 02 vw. i was told by the guy at the shop that i need an interface.  he said it was not possible to connect the wires in the dash to my new deck because the car sends data to communicate with the car.  i would like to hook the new deck directly and save the $90 i spent on this harness.  can i hook up my deck without this?

 thank you for your time,

torpedot

He's wrong. While newer VW's require a module to transfer data, an 02 does not. Metra part number 70-1784 is all you need...

It's only used if you are doing SWC.
