transmission line enclosure

I seem to be new at the t line theory and cannot figure it out no matter what I do. I am going to be running two RE Audio SXX 12 inch subs in my wrx Biggest the box can be is around 4 cubic feet internally. Will go with tens if need be just wanted to try this type of enclosure out figured it would be a challenge. 35*14*15 are the inside dimensions. Any help would be great. Please explain as if I where two years old without the whole goo goo ga ga thing.

BTW... that 4 cubic feet will begin disappearing as you build the line.

itsyuk: Why's it matter "why"...? I've built them over and over, and they are THE most musical enclosure you can build. Almost "Period". POSSIBLY an IB can beat it, but IBs are near impossible in the car.

TLs are probably the VERY easiest enclosure to design, but in some cases, can be the most DIFFICULT to tune correctly to get acceptable, let ALONE excellent, results.

What's the Sd of the driver (480 cm2), and what's the Fs of the driver (30.6 Hz)? Those are the ONLY two specs you need to effectively design and build a TL.

Are you stuffing? Are you going to go UNstuffed? Those two questions AFTER the above will determine the overall size of the TL. Stuffed ones will be marginally smaller, overall.

I've been building TLs for years, and my last one (and most likely my BEST sounding one) was an isobarik loaded, TCSounds TC1000 (aka Epic 10, at parts-express.com).

If you are an output junkie, I suggest you look elsewhere. True TLs (NOT a "slot-loaded box") are SPECIFICALLY for smooth frequency response into the lowest registers; they are PITIFUL choices for SPL applications. The RE woofers, (an SPL driver to be sure) with an Fs of 31Hz are NOT acceptable woofers, in my opinion, for a TL installation.

If you'd STILL like to try them out in a TL, and throw all the materials money away to build them, I'll still walk you through it. :P
