2008 honda is giving me a fit

I'm attempting to install an aftermarket CD player in my 2008 Honda Fit.

I've gotten the stock stereo out and have moved onto the wiring for the new receiver, but I have a few issues:

1. I am not getting power to the receiver.

2. When I cut the original wiring, the power locks stopped working and the dome light went off.


From what I've found, the following is the "correct" wiring diagram:

Car Radio Battery Constant 12v+ Wire: WHITE/ Red
Car Radio Accessory Switched 12v+ Wire: Yellow/Red
Car Radio Ground Wire: Black
Car Radio Illumination Wire: RED / Black
Car Stereo Dimmer Wire: Red
Car Stereo Power Antenna Trigger Wire: N/A
Car Stereo Amp Trigger Wire: N/A
Car Stereo Amplifier Location: N/A
Car Audio Front Speakers Size: N/A
Car Audio Front Speakers Location: N/A
Left Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Light GREEN/ Black
Left Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Light Green
Right Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): GREEN/ YELLOW
Right Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Gray/Red
Car Audio Rear Speakers Size: N/A
Car Audio Rear Speakers Location: N/A
Left Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Blue/White
Left Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Blue/Black
Right Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Pink
Right Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Blue / YELLOW

However, I've connected the wiring for constant, accessory and ground and get no power to the receiver?

My other issue is how do I get power to the dome lights/locks/dash?

I might sound really stupid for asking (please forgive my ignorance), there are more factory wires than there are on the aftermarket harness! I'm guessing (please correct me if I'm wrong) that some of the "extra" factory wires somehow tie in to the 12v constant? If so, that would solve my lack of power to the locks and light, no?

Anybody have some insight on how I can remedy this problem? The wife mad at me for the hole I left in her dash...If I don't fix it fast there will be on in my head.

if you cut more than one wire at the same time then i would start by checking your fuses. then i would put the plug back together, that is if you didnt cut the wires too short to be reconnected. then i would buy the wire harness adapter for your car just to make it easier. some older hondas had the power lock circuit running through the factory radio. they made special harness adapters that would fix the problem but they dont recommend any special harness for your car so i would assume that you just blew a fuse when you cut the harness off.

Plus, it's too late for you but perhaps someone else reading this might benefit: don't hack your factory wiring, buy the proper adapters.

Yes, NEVER cut the plug off!   You blew a fuse.  Check the fusebox under the hood too!  Make sure that there is not a position in the factory plug you cut off that has two wires of the same color in the same place, If so, you need to reconnect them that way!

The harness for that car retails for 15 dollars.

Even I have started "conversion" to standard interfaces so I can use or copy standard adapters.

I NEVER cut harness wires, but I recently upgraded a stereo that I previously upgraded and wired "from harness to stereo", and I can't figure out how the heck I figured it out originally (ie, the L&R, F&R grounds - not that they mattered).
So now I do a one-off from harness to "standard" interface, then merely add whatever audio...


But cutting harnesses?
In my case no due to the collector's nature of my vehicle.
And otherwise no because it cannot be decoded or undone later.

i only have a few rules if you MUST cut the harness for whatever reason, never cut more than one wire at a time and never cut the wire so short on the plug side that it cant be reconnected later, and make note of same color wires and mark then so that you know which wire goes where later.
