i finally was able to take back my set of diamond audio HEX 6.5" components and i am seriously considering sticking them in my back doors to compliment my HEX pro 7" components up front. i havent used rear speakers in my system for long time because at first i had a ford ranger and the cabin was small enough so that i didnt need rear speakers to have a full sound but now im driving a four door nissan frontier and i think maybe i could benefit from having the mids in the back doors.

my HEX pro's up front sound amazing but i wonder if it could be even better. the problem is that if i did install them in the back doors i would need to buy an amp just for them so it is kind of a big decision. im not worried about making the system louder as this is a pure SQ setup.

these are the mids i have:

i plan to run just the mids and their passive crossovers because i dont want any tweeters behind me. i might also consider running them through an active crossover instead of the passives they came with because my front stage is all active and i might need the option to play with the crossover frequency to make the rear blend better with the front.

so if anyone has any advice that can help me make the right choice it would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance

I haven't run rears in 10 years in any of my vehicles that I've build. The front end of my Tundra uses 3 way component Morels and they too sound amazing. Rear fill IMO is for rear passengers and also for the person who has a vehicle that is large and wants that full sound all around them. Setting up the front stage with good speakers will give you the concert experience but rear fill with give you the theater experience.

yea i feel the same way but i would just hate for these to go to waste collecting dust in my closet. i havent run rear speakers since 2004 so im right there with you, i know its not necessary to get good sound, my motto is less is more. i still might install them one day but it seems that right now it just isnt worth the trouble.

Why would they go to waste?  It wouldn't be a waste if you sold them.
