I havent been able to find the answer to my question anywhere. When porting a box, how does the size of the port related to SPL? LIke will a 4" port tuned at lets say 35HZ give you a higher spl reading that a 3" port tuned at 35HZ ?????

a Lil confused, please help,
or anyone know of a link that explains this please post.

As long at the port tuning frequency is the same on both scenarios, the SPL will not be any higher. The only way to get a higher SPL is to give the sub more power at 35 hz's. The only reason for the port diameter difference is for boxes that can not support a longer 3" port so they go for a 4" shorter port. The prot length plays a part in the tuning frequency as well, kinda like a pipe organ. The taller the stacks the deeper the bass frequency.
