i need help ppl i need to learn how to install an amp into my 2003 focus ztw. i will be putting in 2 ten inch subs but my biggest problem is that the stock head unit is still in and cant be takin out i need to kno how to install the amp to the head unit and everything else invloved in installing this ive never done it b4 so please be detailed i dont want my car to blow up lol. please all help is needed eg: whatwires go were things like that ive never done this b4 or anything like it ------------- ian

Are you really sure you want to take on an amplifier install as your first project?
You will need either a pac-audio.com SNi-15 or LC-2. You will also need a Power wire kit with the appropriate size wire for your amp. The fuse holder that comes with the power wire kit needs to mounted as close to the battery positive connection as you can. Run the power wire from the battery and go through an existing rubber grommet on the firewall. Do not run it through the door jamb. Get it to the amp. You will also need to run the RCA cable that comes with the kit from the back of your radio to the amplifier. Also run the remote wire from back of radio to the amp. Get that done and I will get you wire colors to connect the SNi-15 and the remote wire.

My biggest problem is the line output converter what wires to what wires that kinda thing. Oh and the remote wire everything else I think I got a handle on

Accessory BLACK/ PINK (+) RADIO HARNESS
Ground BLACK/ GREEN (-) RADIO HARNESS

LF Speaker (-) BLUE/WHITE
RF Speaker (+) TAN/GREEN

Connect the remote wire to the accessory wire.

i need help with were to put the remote wire on my 2003 ford focus ztw right now i have it hooked up to the 12v radio but its not shuting off this is my first install. i have the schematics for the car just dont know whitch wire to tap

ok so now i had everything hooked up and it was working. i have a hatchback and when i closed it this morning i got a very hevy sustained base note that kept playing till i opened the back what is that. and now the radio wont turn on unless the power cord is touching the remote wire on the amp, what i mean is that the power has to touch its screw and the remote has to touch its screw and they have to touch each other. other then that nothing works not even stock head unit. ( i have the remote wire tapped into the 12v radio on my car thats orange and black) please any help is apprecated

You have a blown fuse, it is the fuse that is labeled radio or maybe cigarette lighter.

that sustained bass note is a feedback loop caused by the line output converter. it happens when you close the hatch because it sends a pressure wave that pushes on the factory speakers, the motion of the speakers sends a pulse through the converter and down to the amp causing the subwoofer to thump which then causes the factory speakers to move again which starts the loop all over again. its kind of like when you hold two phones too close to each other and it makes them echo with a sound loop.
try turning the gains down on the converter or your amp and it should help. your remote wire should go to the BLACK/ pink wire at the factory radio harness. BLACK/ pink means a black wire with a pink stripe. test this wire to make sure it turns on and off with the key so you know it is the right wire, its dangerous to tap factory wiring without testing to make sure you have the right wire.
the wires at the amplifier terminals should not be touching each other, this may be why you have blown fuses. if you have loose strands of wire hanging out then you either need to cut them off or wrap the exposed wire with electrical tape.
