I have installed a new Pioneer receiver DEH-X6600BS and connected the subwoofer out RCA's to the back of the receiver. When i connect those RCA's to the amp that powers my sub, the receiver cuts out all the speakers if i turn the volume up. At that point you can only here the sub firing. If i disconnect the RCA's from the Amp., this problem goes away. I have spoken to Pioneer and they are guessing that the amp is sending some kind of power back up the RCA's to the head unit which is then shutting off in protection mode. Good theory, but they didn't offer any solution to fix the problem. Anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this or how to fix it.
Its a Sony Xplod amp 600W
The RCA's I bought from Best buy - designed just for S/W out connections. ($24)
disconnect trigger wire from sony so the amp is not even on and see what happens.
you could also run your patches from your head unit to a friends car subamp and see what happens( and vice/versa).
do you have the pioneer programmed to use the its rear SPEAKER channels as a sub too? if so, are you making sure to connect those speakers as specified by the instructions?
