Hello I have a 2004 Audi A4. Metra calls for a 40-VW53 which is for a vehicle with a roof mounted amplified antenna. My car doesnt have a visible roof mount (shark fin) antenna. Can I use the 40-VW10 antenna that I have at the shop or would that degrade my radio reception.

is the factory radio still available? reconnect the radio, power up and check and see if the antenna port has power on it. the vw53 adapter allows the aftermarket radio to send power along the antenna coax. if there is no power, try the vw10. but if the radio has reception issues, the vw53 will be required.
hope this helps.

yes I have the factory radio. What do you mean by antenna port? Is it a pin im testing in the harness on the back of the radio or something else? I'm assuming this will show power when the am/fm is turned on.
