I have a 04 chevy Silverado it use to have the feature when the audio system stayed on for 15 minutes after u turned it off or when u opened a door. I changed the head unit and it doesn't do that no more.I found the wire that used to do that feature but its a 5volt wire. Ineed to know whats the best way to convert that 5volt wire to a 12 volt so it would switch on my relay to retain that feature? thank you!

A 5V relay.

The wire you are testing isn't what you think. The original radio was turned on through a data signal which has nothing to do with whatever wire you are testing. You should use a radio replacement module from either Metra, Scosche or PAC. It will do what you want and retain door chimes etc, which are required for a vehicle safety.

I'll second pvcsilverado with another Thank you sparky!! you're a life saver!.
OldFarts like me with vintage cars often forget about comms & CANs.
[ If a user says 5V, I'll often assume they do mean 5V (DC). ]

A Metra LC-GMRC01 is available at any reputable stereo shop. Retails for 70 dollars.

This is only useable if you did not cut the factory plug out of the dash.
