I installed a backup camera, which is controlled by the reverse light wire. Reverse -->Camera on, Not Reverse--> Camera off

I would like to extend the time that camera stays on (10-30 Sec) after I take it out of reverse gear, by possibly using a diode and a capicitor, can this be done? If so, how?

12V --> additional 10- 30 sec

The easiest way to do it is to install a 12VDC power-off time delay relay. They are available from any electronics supply house like Mouser or Newark or Grangier and many are adjustable for how long they maintain power before switching off.

DYohn, thanks for the response, but I prefer to build the circuit, do you have some information regarding how to do it with a capictor and diode arrangement?
