I recently got a car that I want to install a JVC radio. Also plan on putting in a 5 channel amp, so I don't have to run more wires than I need to.

Problem is, The head unit only has 1 RCA out that says SUB OUT. Do I just need to get a Y-splitter for each RCA out ( their are 2 RCA jacks, one white, one red) and just plug them into the INPUT of the amp (a Powerbass ASA 1100.5) and wire accordingly, or it is more involved than that?

that preout can be full range or sub depending on your settings.

the Powerbass ASA 1100.5 allows you to run that single patchcord into it and run the whole amp. it states clearly in the installation manual what you need to do.
understand that doing it that way will not let you be able to fade front to rear and change subwoofer levels from the drivers seat unless you duct tape the amp directly to your steering wheel. LOL
you will need to carfully balance the system to keep from crawling in the trunk and re-adjusting for each song/artist.
