hey everyone just wondering what i can do to make sure my volume levels match when i switch from cd to tuner to video any ideas thanks

What type of radio do you have? Pioneer has a source volume adjustment, not sure if other brands have something similar.

I just put in a new Alpine CDA-7995 and the CD player always sounds louder then the radio. Looking through the manual there isn't anything I can do about it, except know it does this. Your is probably the same way.

Well first off remember that CDs have a much higher S/N ratio than Fm radio does; and therefore the cd will inherently be louder than the radio even if the volume level is at the same number.

Now if you mean that when you switch between the two sources the actual volume level/number changes on the head unit, then I'm not really sure what that could be. but like ironcy noted they have a SLA (source level adjustment) setting that has something to do with equalizing the volumes of the two different sources. Check in your owners manual for "SLA" or something to that effect..

i have an eclipse and my problem is that the DVDs play softer than radio and CDs.

On average the S/N ratio for CD player is around 90 to 92 DB. FM radio is in the 80s, and AM can reach to as low as 65 Db. This will differ. depending on your system.
Like IronCy was saying you need a source level adjustment feature on your head unit. With out this feature I dont think there is much you can do about it.
Who wants to listen to the radio anyways. LOL
