I have a JL audio 250/1 amp that has worked perfect for the last 13 years and has not been used for the last 3 years. Went to turn the stereo on and heard the subs pop and noticed the green power light would be on and then turn off about every 4 seconds and the subs would suck back into the frame when the green light was on. Checked all the wiring, put new batteries in and even removed amp and installed in a friends car to double make sure and still did the same thing. Anyone had this happen before or have any ideas of what could be wrong?
Thanks

It has shorted output transistors. It needs to be repaired.

Do you think it would be best to send it into JL to fix or try and find a shop around town that could fix it?

Finding a shop around town is becoming more difficult by the second. Is there a shop in your town that is able to repair it? Have them remove the bottom cover and inspect the clamps that hold the transistors to the heat sink. Ask them how they are going to remove them. If they have that Deer in the headlights look, stop them and I will instruct them on the easy and safe way to remove them.
