Hello, I have a 2016 Silverado with the standard audio package. I installed an older JBL amp with built in high level inputs with an alpine 10" subwoofer. Since the amp has high level input connections there is no need for the remote wire hookup, it powers up when it recieves a signal from the door speakers. The only problem is that when I get out of my truck and lock the doors, or just open and close my door, the subwoofer Gives out a loud distortion sound for one second. Does anyone know what causes this and a way to fix it? Thanks in advance.

Do not use audio sensing. Connect a remote wire. When you close the door, it makes the door speaker move, which puts voltage on the input of the amplifier and makes it duplicate what the speaker did. You can find ignition 12v at the OBDII port under the dash left of the steering column.

Perfect, thank you. I can hook up a remote wire but I'm not sure if that will disable the audio sensing. Maybe I will have to use a line output converter instead of the built in high level inputs?

If your audio system’s source unit includes a remote turn-on wire and you would prefer to use it, the amplifier will sense
that you’ve used a remote turn-on wire and that connection will override the signal-sensing turn-on. If necessary, you
can defeat the signal-sensing turn-on circuit by moving the Auto Turn-On switch to the “Off” position.

Copied and pasted from a manual of a JBL amplifier with signal sensing capability.
