Installed a kenwood x469 for a co-worker today in his 2001 Jetta. Everything works EXCEPT for A.M. - I get VERY weak and unclean signal. I tried putting a filter on between the antenna and the radio - nothing. Amp - also nothing. An aftermarket glass-mount AMPLIFIED antenna seemed to work but still not clear.

Anyone encounter this issue? Is the glass-mount or aftermarket antenna the only choice?

Thanks.

Yea you need to use an adapter like this one, and hook up the blue wire to the power antenna remote turn on wire of the kenwood head unit

Can't believe that people are still clinging onto AM radio LMAO, you need to power the factory antenna wire
