I'm installing another car stereo for a friend and he has one of the old Cerwin Vega 124 subs. The ones with a kevlar woofer. He has a profile ca600 amp. The subs is a 4ohm SVC that can hold 400 Watts RMS, and the amp is a profile ca800 puts out 450RMS x1 @ 14.4. I went to a comp like 5 years ago and saw a guy put 2k watts through 3 of these so I think it can handle it. I kinda of think the amp is overrating its power

If i hook this up is the sub gonna blow in a month?

Its in a Sealed Box setup with 1.4 cubic feet of space, its big but hopefully that will help the sq since it is a spl sub

should be ok, just remember to set you input gains on the amp correctly

yea just set your gains properly, and make sure the enclosure is the optimal size recommended for that particular sub. Profile california amps are pretty solid and shouldn't give you any problems as long as you've got it all wired up properly.

well, i looked it up online and all i can find is ported instructions, which leads me to believe the sub is only reccomened for vented boxes

This is straight from the Cerwin Vega Manual...

"The Vega Series subwoofers are designed to be used in bass-reflex (vented) enclosures for optimum performance and long term reliability. For best results with bass-reflex enclosures we recommend lining all inside box walls with fiberglass or Dacron™ fiberfill of 1-inch thickness. Always leave at least 4 inches of unobstructed clearance at both ends of the port tube, between the inside walls of the enclosure and port entrance, and between the port exit and the vehicle interior. For optimum performance, the port should “play” into the listening area."
