Ok, so I have this pioneer 6 disc changer and head unit that was given to me by a friend who didnt need it. The trouble is, the head unit doesnt have its face-plate, and its an older pioneer model, so the model # isnt even in the catalouges anymore.
So, rather than finding a faceplate and installing the head unit (which would look goofy on my car's console anyways) I want to hook the CD changer directly to my factory chrysler stereo. I've seen it done before, my friend used to have a GMC Sierra, and a sony 12 disc changer wired straight to the factory GM stereo. (You set the dialer to a certain frequency which was reserved for the changer, and controlled it via remote control.)
I'm reluctant to take it down to say, Best buy or Ultimate Electronics, because I dont want to have to pay for something I could conceivably do myself. (Mind you I have a good understanding of electronics and electronic ciurcitry.)
The stereo itself is just a plain jane factory chrysler thingy from a 96' dodge stratus. I'm not sure how to take the console side panels out to look at the stereo, and even if I did, I dont think I would know what to look for.
Any advice?
Oh, BTW, the cd changer's model # is CDX-P610
