I have a 2002 Eclipse with an Infinity factory system.  I need to bypass the factory amp in order to put the deck in that I want.  Any ideas on how to do this other than running new speaker wire from the deck to the speakers?

Thanks

Rob

The amp should be under the passenger seat, maybe you can bypass it from there  or try to get a harness made for that car that will power up your factory amp using an aftermarket radio. There are many ways around it.

The amp is under the seat.  I was told that the amp that infinity uses in the eclipses won't work period with an after market deck.  The only other option I could think of without running new wire was something similar to what you thought.  Have a harness made that will connect the wires that go to the deck with the harness that is supposed to connect to the amp from the speakers.  That way I can just get the harness for the aftermarket that still connects to the factory wiring.

Actually there is an amp bypass harness that Peripheral makes specifically for the mitsubishi infinity systems.  You can find it at a lot of different places online, but here is just one example:  https://www.sounddomain.com/sku/PERMITAH

It is called the MITAH.

It has the DIN plug on one end and RCA's on the other end.  If you have an aftermarket head unit with only one set of RCA outputs then you'll need two y-adapters so that you can send a signal to both the front and rear rca's built in to the harness.
