I recently installed a system in my girlfriend's 98 altima. I didn't notice it before but I do now. There is a lot of engine noise that is only present when the air conditioner is turned on. Of course the power wire and rca's are routed on opposite sides of the car. I'm sure it has something to do with the a/c fan. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Sounds to me like the blower is interfering with your signal. Make sure both your rca and speaker wires are routed as far away from the blower and its high current cables as possible check and or move them and let us know what happens. Also is the noise in all 4 speakers or just the 2 fronts? And do the fronts have external X-overs?

are you using a high quality RCA cable?  is it shielded at all?  An AC unit has a tendancy to put out quite a bit of EMI.
