Yeh my bro has been tryin to get me to put 4 l7 10's in my s-10 and i still kinda want 3 l7 12's he says the 10 will be louder and i say the 12's will be louder. can anybody help us out and settle this dispute?? The 10's wold go on two kx1200.1's 2 tens to each amp and the 12's would have a kx1200.1 to two of them adn a 600.1 to the other. The 10's would be in a 2.25 cu ft box the largest kicker recommends and the 12 would be in a 3.25 cu ft box also the largest kicker recommends. Any help that we get will help settle this once and for all. Thanks Wes

The installer I always deal with told me that 3 10 in L7's hjold the spl record right now so I would go with the tens. I never like the idea of an odd number off subs.

if you have the room and sufficient power, the 12's will be louder, and the bass will be deeper, .. contrary to popular belief, size does matter

12's are the most efficient sub for sound and would sound better than using 10's but after 12's then size does matter and the subs become slow and inefficient

The 12s will be louder. More cone area = more bass.

I have been thinkin about that though. Wit 4 10's the cone area would be 40 inches. Wit 3 12's the cone area would be 36"??? I guess the excursion on the 12's make up or that though. WEl they are all gonna have about 600 watts goin to them because i wanna stay with kicker amps. soim gonna have a 1200 and 600 watts amp. So what about should i rewind my alternator to? I have a 96 s-10 extended cab. No power locks no power windowsits no cruise pretty much basic truck has a/c. So iwas thinkin somewhere around 250 o should i just put two alternators on it one for the truck and one for the stereo? Thanks. Wes

dime.. you are quick and correct the 10's would have more cone area, there fore more air movement... however, a 12 is still more powerful therefore the size advantage

Do all the math and theorizing you want. When you get right down to it, the 12s will always hit harder and give your more volume. At least from my experiences they have.

With 1800 watts RMS you will draw approximately 140 amps max so if you went with (1) 200 amp alternator you should be fine. When you upgrade the alternator be sure to also upgrade all of your power and ground cables in between the chassis, alternator and battery.

so one 200 amp alternator to power my truck and my amps?? Ok and no this is gonna be a very loud (hopefully) daily driver. I think you wont be able to swallow in the front seat from the air movement inside bcuz wit two 6.5 and two sepakers behind your head (im not sure what size they are if anybody knows please tell me) wit the bass tunred up it wiggles the seat a lil bit. Im hopin somewhere around 158 ported. Well thanks guys for all the help. Wes
