best 10'' sub for 94 ranger?

i'm looking into putting a ten between my seats in my std cab 94 ranger, so i'm looking for a sub with a relatively small enclosure vol. .65~ dvc and able to handle around 800+ watts rms and 5.5" deep or less...........and hopefully under $250, any ideas?

you depth of 5.5" is not anything you need to look at. i have gotten a sub with a 8" depth in a standard cab s10. its all on how you build the box. most tens will have a rms of about 500wrms i think soo what is the amp you have, or have in mind?

Very nice subs BUT, you will have a hard time finding them for under $250, probably be closer to $350 but im not sure, never priced them from a retailer before so. And ketel, there are alot of applications where the depth does play a huge factor in what sub a person can get, trust me, i was very limited on what i could put in my wifes truck dues to the depth problem.

well its going to either run of a mtx 4250d or 8100d so its either 250rms or 1000, i've measured about every possible angle and the box that looks the best to me is going to have room for around 5.5 inch deep sub, could make a 6 fit but that could mean fiberglass, (actually lets plan on fiberglassing.) the s10;s have a lot more room behind the seat than the rangers do, back when i had my first ranger (rip) i took it to the local stereo shop, where the manager had an s10 and wouldn't believe me either, there is no room behind the seats of the 93-97 ranger the only idea he had was alpine(aura) bass shakers, which sounded decient but blew after a year. any way i was noticing the idmax v.3 subs can be run free air, any ideas on that and how much power they'll be able to hold free air?

I wouldnt recommend a free air for a truck cab. Most freeairs are mounted to a baffle board in the trunk of a car and use the trunk as the enclosure, make sense? Good thing about a small truck like that, it wont take much at all to make it very loud. Just depends on what you wanting out of this sytem.

so far with the system i have a set of alpine type r components with the type x 6.5 woofer in the door, i'm looking for a sub that can run from around 100 a down to pick up where the 6.5 leave off, no real room for a midbass speaker. i know i'm very fortunate for the small cab gonna be loud! with my free air idea i was going to make side board and screw it into the carpet in the back wall so it would be look like it was air tight but it wouldn't be. but i can fiberglass that back of it so its cool, so now its kind of a toss up between a diamond m5 an idmax v3 or i was thinking eclipse might be good.............the more i get to thinking about it the more i want a dang good woofer plus i've already spent a ton on the other stuff no reason to peter out now.

Well if you wanting to go with a great woofer that you wont be wondering all the "what if's" about, then spend a little extra and go with an eclipse aluminum. From what i've learned, you cant go wrong with those babies.

If you have the money and want the ultimate I would defiantly go with Eclipse aluminum, it will give you tons of bass and excellent sq, it’s defiantly one of the best subs out there. However If you don’t go with the Eclipse, the M6 they are some fantastic subs as well.

would the dvc 10 be alright with 300~ watts rms? or would i be better off with the titanium series running 1000 watts to a dvc10

I would not underpower the aluminum, but if u have 1000 watts then i would DEF get the titanium. I have an Eclipse aluminum 15 at about 575 watts and all i have to say is daaaaaamn. I would suggest you use fiberglass to build this system also.

Perhaps a 10" is not the best for a tight fit. I have a 99 Ranger x-cab. I am very familiar w/ the lack of space in the standard cab. Perhaps you should look into running multiple 8" subs.You could run quite a few 8's & they require minimal depth & Volume. Plus the bass is VERY tight! You sacrifice a little low end, however w/ the small amount of airspace in the entire cab, you will not have much low end bass anyway. I have 4 8" Kicker Comp VR subs running in stereo on 205watts RMS each. All are in a sealled encloser @ .65 cu FT apeice. I have low bass (approx 35hz/down) only when the windows are all down. But a little AC/DC Back in Black feels like a Tyson Kidney punch. Check into it.
