I'm thinking of purchasing an Elemental Designs e12Kx.22 subwoofer with a JBL P180.2 amp. I have heard some good things from people on this forum about Elemental Designs and JBL amps. The subwoofer satisfies everything I was looking for, looks good, heard good things about the company, doesn't take a lot of watts, should work in a relatively small enclosure, and most importantly price.

Does anybody recommend a better amp that is about the same price?

I'll be building the box myself, probably use slot ports instead of round ports since slot ports seem easier to build. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Should work great but I recommend doing a sealed box if you want to keep the size down

Yeah I'm still trying to decide on whether to make it sealed or ported. Probably go with sealed to begin with just because it will be easier to build the box.

I went looking at those tarantula amps and I would say they are out of my price range.

I've heard some good stuff about US Acoustics and I was checking out their amps, they have the USX600D I believe that is about the same price as the JBL 180.2, which would you recommend and why?

Thanks for all the help so far.

good choice on amp and sub. i have heard that they are good subs.

Either way, ported or sealed, the box will be pretty small.
