i was wondering where would be the best place to connect the ground wire from my amp. I have the explorer with the third row seat and my amps manual said that you should never connect the ground wire to factory ground points, seat bolts, or brackets that are spotwelded. Thanks.

Another post by your 2am wakeup call. That damn kid setting off the alarms of all the cars on the block and scaring all the pets in the neighborhood.

The best place for a ground plane is always to the vehicles (floor) chassis / frame.

Yeah, teken makes a good point.  I would suggest grounding to some type of washer behind a panel, if you are installing in the back.  Pulling up the carpet can be a pain, especially on the newer cars.  However, if you can, this is the best way to do.  Find a clean place free of dirt, dust, grime and paint to ground to.  You may have to scrape it and wash it off with some rubbing alcohol and a cotton ball.  I always do this, and while it's never necessary, it always makes me feel better about the ground... Call me obsessive compulsive =P

Instead of cutting up your carpet, and routing the wire around to the edges,  Look around the base where the rear seats mount....ususally you can route your cable under an opening there, then scrape the paint on the floor, to at least the width of the ring terminal, and bolt it down..... pretty easy.... while keeping the car virtually un-changed for selling it in the future...
