that's how I currently have my stereo set up. I have just bought two 10" subs (900 W each) and two amps (800 W each) I was wondering how I could set this system up. the main problem is that my head unit only has 1 set of preouts. also, I have a set of 6" speakers I plan on installing in the rear doors.

I also want to know if I could hook up my 900W amp to the 6's and 6x9's

what else would I need to make this work? any special things I should get? crossovers? capacitors?

  • head unit: Jensen Mp3 player 4x50w
  • 12: subs: Clarion 12" 500w
  • amp: Rockford Fosgate Punch 900w
  • 6x9 JVC 240 w
  • 6": JVC 200W
  • 10" subs: Pyramid
  • new amps: Pyramid

yes, I know that Pyramid is pretty crappy, but I'm on a budget.

This is an interesting setup you have going here. Why do you need more speakers? It looks like you have a set of 6.5" and 6 X 9 speakers which should provide plenty of volume. I'm guessing your amp is a 2 channel one from the pictures. You can either power your subs or power your speakers with this amp because it is only 2 channel. I wuold just keep using your Clarion subs and trash the pyramids or return them. I would also reccomend if your looking for an upgrade, to get JL's W0 subs. These are awseome subs especially for their low price. Two of these 12" or 10" subs would be a great setup and they would be a perfect match for your amp. I would buy the 8 ohm version since you have a 2 channel amp and then connect them to your single bridge output. the JL subs would only run you $125 or so each(and they are so much better then pyramid or clarion). I would use one pyramid amp for the 6 X 9 speakers and one for the front 6.5 speakers. I dont reccomend putting a second set of 6.5" speakers in your doors because of the possible cancellation and imaging problems. It would ruin your front sound stage if you had two sets of speakers in back. Either put in door speakers in back(which might give back seat passengers better imaging then your 6 X 9s) or 6 X 9s on the rear deck. Dont do both. Again I would seriously returning the pyramid subs because your Rockford Fosgate amp would have a hard time powering them and they just plain suk. They would make your system sound worse. Go buy some JL W0 subs and you will be much happier. Since you only have one set of preamp outputs you will need a cheap crossover like Profile's Clarus 3 way crossover. Just connect the single set of outputs from your cd player to its full range input then connect its front and back full range set of preamp outputs to the pyramid amps and the single set of subwoofers preamp outputs to the Rockford amp. Dont forget to buy a distrubution block and and some 4 gauge power cables. I would reccomend Stinger(look at their SWK4D power kit) or Streetwires. Dont skimp on the gauge of wire or quality of the rca cables (get some better one then you have right now so you dont run into noise problems). And if you're looking to upgrade ever look at JL, Boston, and Infinity speakers. They make good stuff. Stay away from Audiobahn, Pyramid, Sony, Aiwa, etc. These people care more about how their products look or how much money they are going to make off of their product then its quality or how it sounds. If you want something that is cheap but still good look at US Acoustics amps.
