I guess if you want to put your own amp in the car you would need to bypass the Bose Amp, replace the Bose speakers,  and you should be ok after that?  I have been told you can hook an after market amp up to those Bose speakers bypassing the Bose amp.  This is frustrating...

The best options on these is the get the wiring harness and run all new wires from the amp to the spekers, not use the stock wiring

Basically what 'im doing is adding line level convertors. I am adding an Alpine MRV540 and an Alpine MRD500, running all new wire, adding 3 way components up front , and a single 12 under the rear seat. I have the Bose in dash 6 disc and don't want to lose my steering wheel controls, xm and onstar at the moment. I just wanted to make sure I tagged the right wires. Thanks for all the help.....posted_image

What speakers are you using for your Mids?  Do you currently have Bose speakers in there now?  I am trying to avoid spending a butt load of money buying new Mids/Highs, and wire my bose speakers to my own amp.

Yes and No.  I want to hook my own amp to my Bose speakers but I don't think I can.  I have heard two different stories and don't know what to believe.  I don't want to blow money on a hope.  I think I am going to have to buy my own Mids & Highs and replace a few of them if I want to use my own amp.

thanks for your help

ANy more suggestions?  Signing off for the day talk to you later.

If you put a 4 ohm speaker in series with the existing speaker then your ohms will be 6 ohms if you put an 8 ohm speaker in parallel the ohms will be 6 ohms.

Ohms and running series, Parallel, I don't understand that stuff.  I know that I want to put Six mid/highs in Yukon but don't think I can do it because of the trouble I may run in to.  My front door speakers are 2ohm bose, back doors are 4ohms bose and the rear are 4ohms as well.  I would like to run those bose to my own amp but don't its possible.  I thought about installing new speakers to replace the bose but I am not sure what to do.  ANy help hotwaterwizard
