ok you stereo guys. I know this probably sounds like a newbie question (i'm a perfromance guy, not a sound guy), but I just did a search on crutchfield and it told me that only a handfull of stereo systems will fit my car (97 eclipse GS-T with stock Infinity Sound System), most of which are kenwood, and I hate kenwood. I really want those new Sony receivers, but crutchfield says none of those will fit. What the heck does this mean? I mean, if the harness is different, can't I just get a wiring harness adapter? Or is it some serious compatibility issue with this Inifinity Sound system?
Thanks guys!
Either din with a pocket or double din, so pretty much any radio you want. You would benefit the most if you rewired your factory amplifier.

thanks man,
so all i really need then is a harness adapter for the new unit and mounting plates. Crutchfield is annoying.
Metra makes the special harness your vehicle needs to keep the factory Infinity sound system active. Part# 70-7003. We also have the kit for your vehicle, 99-7006 and an optional pocket to snap into the eq provision on the kit, 88-00-9700. If you want to bypass the amp, we have that harness too, 70-7002. Just about any radio will fit in to this vehicle.
