where is the factory amp located in a 98/99 navigator, we took the back right panel off in the rear and the only amp there was for the factory sub... any ideas would be appreicated

check the center councole. If it has the mach audio system, there will be an amp in the back panel and another one below the dash accessable from the center councole. (kind of a pain to get to)

98's and 99's are totally different different. 98's have an amp below the dash in the center and a bass amp in the rear by the sub like mobile1 mentioned, but 99's the radio powers the highs and bass amp remains in the rear to power the sub. What are you installing in the vehicle?
