What part do you want to motorize?  If you're talking about motorized sliding amps in and out of a rack, you need 12V DC linear actuators.  Lots of industrial companies make them - they are not inexpensive.  Parker makes great ones.

Metra makes these in the Fishman line and you can special order these from any Circuit City. If Circuit City tells you they cannot, please respond back as some Circuit City's don't know they can get these. Here's a link to look;

Linear actuators are REALLY expensive.  But I found out a great way to get them cheap.

We have a place called "White City Steel" which buys scrap metal, and sells it by the lb.  They have a huge yard of metal from all kinds of things.  This includes seats from vehicles that were motorized.  So we would buy the whole seat for about $8 and get 4 or 5 linear actuators that way.  If you have a similar place nearby, then I would definitely check it out.
