I have a slight problem. I recently traded cars and am installing my amp into my new car.  Previously I was developing a problem where the AMP would turn on without the remote wire but with the RCA cables.

What could be that cause of this? Also I replaced 8 of the FETs on the input side today. An enginner here at work told me they were bad and I should have them replaced.

Any thoughts are welcome.

On a side note my amp has High level inputs I will be using on my next instal. Does this matter?

Dan

Looks like some JL amps turn on when they sense a signal from the RCA cables.  Means you don't have to run a remote on wire for teh amp when using a deck (factory) without one.

Don't know what amp you have, but maybe it does this also.

I would recommend using a high quality aftermarket line output converter that is of the adjustable variety, such as the Peripheral P-35, instead of any amplifier's built-in converter.  You need the best electronics you can get to make that conversion and get a good signal to the amp.

MTX uses a thing called smart engage. When the signal is recieved through the RCA lines, it will turn the amp on. I thought it only did it using the high level plug on the amp but mabye it does it using the rca plugs as well. I bet the amp is just fine.
