can anyone help me with my headunit! its an ////ALPNE CDA-7995.

it can do an amazing amount of stuff, but the manual sucks! (its like its was written in japanese, & translated to english by monkeys...ANYWAY!)
im trying to understand the "Built-In Crossover", which has high pass & low pass filters. what i want to know is, can these be setup for the individual pre-outs?! (Front/Rear/Sub).

I want to upgrade my sub amp to the JBL bp600.1. The amp, i hear is great, but it does not have a LP filter. i do not want to run any high freq. signal to the sub (Kicker CompVR 15 4 ohm). & i would like to avoid a crossover (network?).
is anyone familiar with this alpine, that can help????
T H A N K S ! ! !

The crossover network in the 7995 is for all of the RCA's. It can not be separated from the front and the rears. As for the JBL, it's strictly a sub amp. That's why there is no HP/LP because it's only got LP. It has a variable crossover built into it.

Features
  • Die-cast chassis uses the entire footprint for amplifier cooling
  • "Direct-Connect" allows choice of 4 - 8-gauge power and ground cable
  • High-frequency switching power supply is more efficient, drawing far less current from the vehicle's electrical system
  • Four high-level and low-level inputs facilitate constant bass, regardless of head unit fader position
  • Variable electronic crossover and bass-boost optimize subwoofer performance

sweet!...no worries then, the JBL has a LP. thanks jeff!

& FYI: i finally got thru to someone @ ALPINE, & the tech there said that the CDA-7995 has a built-in crossover with a low pass & a high pass that (basically) effects ALL the outputs, however,...

if you activate the High Pass, it works on ALL 3, but if you then turn on the Low Pass, it only effects the SUB output. interesting, huh? i felt like it was hard to believe, but ill try it.

the choices of cross-over points on the Alpine are 80hz, 120hz, & 160hz...should i use the 80hz option? or would something different be better? (then i would use the JBL builtin LPf)??? (the sub is a Kicker CompVR 15 4ohm)

It wouldn't really matter what you have the crossover set at on the Alpine HU because the amplifier has it's own variable crossover . You probably want the corssover to be set lower than 80 Hz for a 15 " sub any way. I would set the JBL to about <50 hz .
