Soundstream old products are like PPi and Orion.

I own a Soundstream Amp for my mids and highs (new model) and some 6.5 3 way speakers tarantula models, i really like them, they sound really good and clean, some please says soundstream is notthe same as the Old school soundstram, .... my opinion, i really like them ( also the way the speaker looks is awesome, with a spider on top, looks really nice....)

Depends on which ones? the old school amps are very mean and will do the job, they are under rated big time.

For the new stuff i heard they are kinda crappy?

Old stuff Rocks!!

lets just say, had i gone with another amp, over my Tarantula TR800/5 i would have not been as happy as i have been with this amp.
if your hesitant about using soundstream to power anything, dont be, if soundstream is 'not as good as they used to be' then i'd be very curious to see how good they really were, cus i've been a very satisfied Soundstream customer.
there are plenty of other great brands out there, but you cant go wrong with soundstream.

The older Soundstreams were killer amps.  They also had a line of pretty nice head units, but not sure if they still do.  I think Hitachi manufactured the head units.

newer stuff isn't as powerful as the old stuff...but is still damn good...as far as amps go they are focusing a little more on quality instead of power anymore...which don't get me wrong, neither was bad...but they just decided to sacrafice one a little for the other in their new line...still good amps though...as far as subs go...they actually went the opposite way focusing a little more on spl...had two twelve davincis...blew em...but loved em...got to twelve tarantulas...loved em...but still wasn't loud enough...got rid of them and settled for two twelve gti's

alright, so i need a good amp to power a 12" adire audio brahma sub. https://www.acoustic-visions.com/~acoustic/products/subwoofer_drivers/adire_brahma/. i thought that the rms wattage for this woofer was around 600 watts though (can anyone correct me).

these are the amps i was looking at.

soundstream: https://www.soundstream.com/sub/products_amps_tarantula.html

JBL: https://www.jbl.com/car/products/product_detail.aspx?prod=GTO601.1&ser=GTS&cat=AMP

hifonics (either the bx 1500d or the bx 1000d): https://www.maxxsonics.com/hifonics/ampsnew_brutusSpecs.html

can you all help me out here. thanx

I wish i could vouch for all the amps, but i have personal experience with the van goh series, the circuit boards are the same mil-spec boards,i am pretty sure the tarantula aren't the same...like i said other than the van goh,i am not sure..As far as the subs, they had an 8" woofer that tottally kicked butt!..I cant tell you how many i had out there (2 subs, with a d-200),that people constantly guessed they were 12's(never a 10!),or 15's then how much power? ohh...at least 400 watts...one great one.. a guy came in with 6 12's,somehow 2 ppi 4 ch amps(100*4) wired to them(the box was only big enough for MAYBE 2 12's)but anyway, dis connected all subs, used 1/2 of one of the ppi's,and he liked when I ADDED the 8's to his stuff!(of course near the top of the volume it wasn't as loud, but stuff shook that never shook b4..but nobody puts woofs in a big enough box..the 8's were in .9 ft3,tuned to +- 37 hz,and whenever possible put a hiphonics IO 9(sub sonic@35)enough stories, the ss have many thing going for them, efficiency, tripple darlington output..finesse w/alot of force..just a tip(other than class-d),look for a high slew rate(measured in volts/microsecond(how fast the output can go from one voltage to another))look for at least 30 or so..the old ones were 75!!! the class a's were 150!!!(not a REAL c-a,but for power consumption purposes,as close as you can get!(haven't seen a speaker in a while either, the old ones were made by Kef..in england) just look for stuff made in other than the orient..like europe,or of course the USA!!! in gereral,if you see two amps, both 400 bucks, one says 500/ch,the other 50/ch,i will always put money on the 50/ch amp..numbers are overrated..you will be more satisfied w/ the 50/ch..
