hello everyone
i read i a magazine that stinger makes a 325 amp ( i believe ) alternator for my 2001 chevy tahoe LT 8-cylinder 5.3L .
does any one have any hookups with a stinger dealer that can offer me a decent price...
stinger told me i can't go through them i need to go through a dealer . but the only stinger dealer around here i don't trust with my money.
any other info on a 300+ amp alternator would be great too. doesn't have to be stinger.
thanks -------------

www.darvex.com is a stinger dealer, e-mail them. Another place to try is www.mechman.com , they make a 270 cold amp/225 hot amps alt for my Nissan, im shure they will have a 300 or so for your truck. mechman rates there alts at working temps, also www.meangreen.com makes good alts too. ------------- 2003 Chevy Avalanche,Eclipse CD7000,Morel Elate 5,Adire Extremis,Alpine PDX-4.150, 15" TC-3000, 2 Alpine PDX-1.1000, 470Amp HO Alt.

you could also look at ohio generators, or try to look up your local alt/starter shop, we have a shop not far from here in savannah, mo that they rebuild alternators to pretty high specs, dont know about 300+ but they cut a great price rebuilt a 135 amp to a 185 amp for about $100 check around your area

Try a emergancy veh alt some are up to 600 amps. they need a sep voltage reg. price depending who you go with about 600 to 800 bucks better than $2700. or you could run 2 alts one, the stock alt to run your veh. the other for your system. run sep batts and all. all you'll need is a 1 wire alt. and say 250a alt will be a lot cheaper. you will have to make some brackets to mount it. it's not that hard if you have the tools and eqmt.
