I have an eclipse aluminam subwoofer and they have a dual voice coil on them and i was wondering how i would wire it up so i still get the same amount of power or more and what the benifit of puting the second voice coil on is i have a rocksford fosgate punch 800 II amp and is there a way to get some more power out of the amp by reducing the ohms and for the voice coils if u could give me a paint diagram of how to set it up i would greatly appresaite it thank you for you time

the second voice coil allows more flexibility for wiring.posted_image

If your sub has two 4 ohm VCs the diagram above would yeild a 2 ohm load to your amp.

If your sub has two 8 ohm VCs the diagram above would yeild a 4 ohm load to your amp.

You'll have to find the nominal impedance of those voice coils.  That sub is hard to find info for, it seems.  Measure resistance in ohms across one of the coil's terminals, if you can.  And post what this sub is.  We don't know if it's dual 2, 4 or 8 ohms...so we can't very well figure how to wire it.  Know anybody who has a DMM and knows how to use it?
