I think the kenwood is a little more used friendly

Weird, I have heard the Eclipse is more user friendly. I'm looking for sound quality and pure performance.

I love the eclipse stuff personally, but the excelon is very close, both are great head units

I'm thinking the Eclipse has 8volt preouts which should be nice for clean sound.

Let me put it this way,   You system is only as good as its weakest link, radio amp sub speakers   whatever it might be.   I would look into where this 8 volt out is going, will it make a huge diffrence between the 6.5 or 8?    probably not.

I have a really nice system the current headunit I have now is the Kenwood DDX-7015. The deck is nice but the preout voltage is 2volts and when I do the voltage setting using a volt meter I have to turn my gains dang near all the way up to get the 18.3 ac volts for full range and 38 ac volts on the sub amp. I'm running Eclipse amps so I know the quality of the amps. The deck also has a low volume ouput, I have to turn the headunit up to 27 out of 35 to get decent sound and I shouldn't have to do that. I have Diamond speakers and subs so I know it's not the speakers. I'm thinking my weakest link is the Kenwood deck.

eclipse amps are very quality amps, maybe not the highest power amps out there but a good quality amp
