I was considering purchasing a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X579 and 2 pairs of the 1679ie.  Are the Kenwood products good? Bad? OK?  I will be installing this set up in a 1995 Nissan Maxima Se With the Bose system.   Will these speakers compare to the factory Bose?  Or will they lack the bass output.  The Bose speakers sounded great until the speaker in the passenger door started to crackle and pop.  Thanks for any help

I've had 2 excelon decks over the years, and I'd say they're really good as far as options (toys) are concerned.  I have had problems with the faceplate though, as the motor quit working after a couple of years on both of them.  If you do get one just make sure that you get a 3-year extended warranty.

Keenwood is all I run and I have all excelon products now except subs. Kenwood excelon componets, amps and decks are great. subs are great for sq but not spl they lack the real thump of a great sub. as for the bose I have not heard the factory bose system but I think you will be real happy with all excelon products.
