hey,

I bought a '94 Sunbird about a month ago and I can't replace the stereo unit where the factory one is.  I bought an underdash kit and have the wire harness. I was reading some info on (88-94 sunbirds?) models that the actual stereo was just behind the separate tape deck that is right above the ash tray(that the wires just ran to the faceplate to the upper display part), but I'm thinking that info is wrong. I was wondering if I had to remove the whole front dash to get to the stereo because Im not seeing any other way to get to where I think the stereo is besides doing that. Any info would be great!

I had a similar problem when i was working with an 03 Isuzu Axiom, What you need to do is get a pre-amplifier and a step down convertor, and that should give you your CD Player (You can use a changer get a good one though) and RCA jacks from the converter. Probably cost you $300 if you get good stuff. Worth the money !!!

This job is not that bad unless you have the optional tape deck. Let me know if you have that option and post back. I understand these cars fully.
