Hey guys i have 2 fosgate P2 8" and a p3001 amp, I also have a 12volt coverter for the house, My question is i have a sony surround sound system and i want to hook this stuff up so that when i turn up the sonys volume the subs will go up with it, i was looking for an extra rcas in the back of the sony but there is none, I cant figure out how to do this.
thanks alot
You know that a home system operates on 110 volts and a car system works on a 12 volt system. Know that voltsXamperage=power, you can see that the home gear is high volts/ low amps while the car gear is low volts/ high amps. You have a converter, but how many amps does it make? Not enough to power the subs, I will bet. And a hook-up of home/car audio gear is not going to work. Sorry. You'll have to buy a home subwoofer.
Just buy a home subwoofer, that is the only thing that will do your sony surround system justice. JBL has that PB12 out for a couple of years, and it is a blaster man... See what you think

"I don't play games. I play Nakamichi and that for real yo" - Probably some japanese kid said this in the early 80's trying to sell stereo out of his trunk lol.
Hey there i need more help i have a 40amp 12v converter i know all about the volts stuff, i need to know how to do what i want to do.
Just connect the positive and negative of the amp to the 12 volt convertor then connect the two subs to the amp. If it's a Sony home theater reciever then you need to hook up the sub preamp output (it will be a single rca output probobly so just split the signal with an rca splitter) from the reciever to the RF amp. It shouldn't sound that bad and if you have unused eqiupment laying around why not use it... Make sure to set the gains so that the subs don't distort when its playing loud. It might be kind of hard because DVDs have alot of sudden loud sequences so be careful.
