I suggest deciding how much you want to spend and going to a few shops around your area to listen to what's avialable.  Buy the ones that sound the best to you and are in your price range.

Honestly I would say scrap the 6x9's and go with a set of 6 1/2 or 5 1/4's, thats just me I hate the sound of by 9's

Don't pay too much attention to the wattage on 6x9s - it means little.  i.e. don't buy a 60w rms pair, even though the 85w rms pair sounded better, based on that spec alone.

If someone were to force me to buy a pair of 6x9's they'd have to be Eclipse.   Personally, I feel 6x9s should have the absolute last priority in the car audio budget.

I agree with Jeff. I hate the sound of 6x9's. Just put the 6 1/2" in and you will see a difference in their sound.

i agree with all. if you are forced to go with 6x9s, the only kind i ever thought sounded somewhat decent were the older boston accoustic fx9's. you can probably find them on ebay. dont go for the higher model as they sound like the rest of 6x9s.

ooops, good thing i consulted with you guys first lol. i actually do have some 6 1/2 alpines in the back atm, but some ass clown told me that the 6X9's are far better. i'll just stick to what i have then, live and learn...
