I have a friend with a 96' lexus sc300. We beleive it has a factory amp, but i havent had the chance to check.( all audio components in the care are stock and have never been changed)
We have a Jensen VM9510 (50X4) Flip out dvd player we would like to install.
I have installed basic head units before but have never had to deal with a factory amp.How does having a factory amp make the install different? Also, what type of problems can i expect to run into when installing the head unit?We do have a wiring harness and a faceplate.
Thanks for all the help,
Mike
all you need to do is color code the wires to an aftermarket plug made for the car and make sure to hook up the blue wire. istall is the same as any aftermarket deck unless it has an external brain. if it has an external brain then just run all the wiring under one of the seats and mount the brain.

Thanks. thats what i thought.
if this lexus is anything like mine...i have a 1994 es300...then the amp is under the passenger seat and the wiring kits made for is are only good for the power wires and antenna. you will have to run a new ground and then get the wiring codes from the lexus dealer and run your speaker wires to under the passenger seat. then you will need at least two crossovers under there because the factory amp has the crossovers built in it for the front speakers. hope this helps..if you have any questions let me know...i have done it and it works great just takes alot of time.
