got a hum, rises and falls in pitch with engine rev. using a Dension Aux Ipod adapter to rear RCA input of Kenwood KDC MP628, and i only get the ground loop through the left RCA not the right.
unplug the left, clean, noise-free, but only right channel info, never had this happen before. of course, the Dension has power going to it as it charges the Ipod through its cradle, as well as sending out a 4V pre-amp level signal to the H.U. via RCA's.
any suggestions, tried different grouding points, and a GLI, but it choked the volume level coming from the Ipod.
Well, it's an iPod and they are simply bad and difficult from a grounding perspective as they are designed to operate on thier own... but, if you are getting engine whine in one side only it could be a number of things including bad RCA cable and a speaker wire shorting to ground. Try swapping Left and Right RCAs and see if the problem moves to the other side. If it does, then you can rule out any issues with your amp or speakers. If it stays on the same side it's not your RCA or iPod, look for a speaker wire touching ground somewhere. Also try replacing the RCA cables. If nothing you change causes any changes then it's the amp, the iPod or the adapter.
