Now I've had my head unit and amps installed in the same vehicle for a year or two. My head unit is a kenwood kdc-x815 with a 4 channel american pro 600w on four mtx 200w 5 1/4 door speakers, I have a 800w two channel visonik amp on three digital audio dvc wired in stereo. tri-mode(thats what the wiring configuration says that came with the amp,two speakers in stereo one bridged). My probem is that after about an hour of riding the radio can be turned completely down no engine noise(zero) and all of sudden engine noise will start. I can turn my radio and amps off, then turning it right back on the noise stops short time later it starts again. My -power cable is less than 3ft. My +12volt(4ga) power supply into a distrubution block then down to 6ga into the amps. the remote and power are seperated from from my rca jacks. This is how my sound was installed year(s) ago, and is now. Is there anyway that this engine noise can be taken out, please make it simple I don't understand alot of the terms used. I am a beginner so your advice will be greatly apprecciated. please be nice.

Check your ground man...it could be loose, rubbed raw, and make sure it's not more than 3 ft. in length.
if that doens't fix the problem...check the RCA's..over time, they get worn and can become a culprit. Easy way to check, temporarily run a new set(s) to the amp(s). if there is no noise, that's the problem.
if you still have noise post it, and I'm sure someone here can figure it out...

That was the problem, one set of rca jacks(front, rightside input) was bad. I replaced them and that elimenated the engine noise. Thanks for the advice, I greatly appreciate it.

P.S. do not drink and install...unless you are an experienced drunk ....and I do not lead by example...heck I don't lead..I follow...makes life easier
